Hello and welcome to my little part of the internet. I am currently a 15 year old student who's due to take their GCSE's summer 2019. This site will help you with your revision and since I love reading, there will often be book reviews too!
Since I'm currently ill and been off school, I've had lots of time to read. Lucky for you that means plenty of book reviews lined up! Today I want to talk to you about one of the books I recently read called ' The start of me and you' by Emery Lord.
Now when I picked this up at my local bookstore , I saw it as part of the Zoella book club which I normally head straight to as I've normally found lots of great reads there in the past and it's cover drew me in from the start. It's so eye catching and is almost a painted heart of all different shades of pinks, reds and oranges. When I looked at the title I could tell straight away that it was going to be a romantic novel which is actually my favorite type of book to read! A quick peep at the blurb and the first few pages had me at the till purchasing the book as my own.
The book is about a teenage girl called Paige who's boyfriend drowned about a year ago and she's still grieving. She makes a list of stuff she needs to do in order to rejoin the world and she gradually faces her fears one by one. She's so sure she wants to date the hot hunk in her English class Ryan Chase but after she spends time getting to know his nerdy cousin Max, Paige isn't so sure anymore.
This book was an absolute page turner for me! I believe it has around 400 pages and I finished it about 3 or 4 days so I was completely and utterly hooked. It was the first book I had read by Emery Lord but her writing was amazing and she really made me feel as though I was there with characters and my heart ached for Paige and Max from beginning to end.
This book conveys the message that sometimes it's okay not to be okay, you just have to get up and do something about it. Lord tells us not to let old memories of what once was get in the way of your life ahead and Paige's situation of loss and grief is relatable to many so you can relate with her easily.
Lord has two other books by the looks of the blurb named 'the name they gave us' and 'when we collided' and after this novel I will definitely be purchasing those two soon to see if they are just as good as this one.
Have you read this book before? If not I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes romantic or tragedy novels. It's a great read!
It won't belong before I'm reviewing another book for you guys as I already have a pile of finished books lined up and ready to review but do you have any suggestions on what books I should read and review? Also would you prefer these reviews with or without pictures as I'm really bad at taking pictures as I'm a perfectionist and like things to be just right!
